Threatened Species Staff have a long involvement with work on threatened plant and fauna species, and provide advice and related technical services to a range of clients.
A field survey and management assessment was undertaken for all threatened and local plant taxa in the Wellington Conservancy. Registers of threatened plants in the former Eastern Region, and the Bay of Plenty Conservancy have been prepared for the Department of Conservation, including management requirements and relative priorities for each species. Surveys of rare plant populations have been undertaken in Bay of Plenty Conservancy, with survey, monitoring and management priorities identified. Monitoring programmes have been established for various species, and the first recovery plan for a New Zealand threatened plant was prepared by a Company director.
