Field surveys have been undertaken of all geothermal sites in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato Regions to identify the extent of geothermal vegetation, its relative significance, and management requirements.
  • Streams and Riparian Margins:
All streamside indigenous vegetation was surveyed in central North Island plantation forests managed by the Forestry Corporation of New Zealand (now Fletcher Challenge Forests). Streams were sampled using electric-fishing.
  • Stormwater Assessments:
Ecological assessments have been undertaken for many stormwater management projects, including riparian vegetation and habitats, and fish and other biota.
