Ecological Evaluation

Wildland Consultants has nationally recognised expertise in the evaluation and rankings of natural areas, with experience extending from the early 1980s.

A ranking system developed by staff underpins national plans for the control of goats, possums and weeds, and this system has also been applied widely on a regional basis in New Zealand. Recent experience includes reviews of significance assessment criteria for the Ministry of the Environment and Environment Waikato. The latter project included a field trial evaluation and development of guidelines for the application of Regional Policy criteria.

Wildland Consultants has undertaken many surveys to enable landowners and councils to fulfil requirements under section 6(c) of the Resource Management Act 1991. This has included ongoing involvement in formulation of district and regional plans, workshops with landowners, council staff and councillors, development of strategic approaches to dealing with ecological matters, and consultation with landowners.
