Carbon Monitoring And AssessmentsWildlands has been involved with carbon monitoring and assessment from an early stage. We have set up and measured 700 carbon monitoring plots since 2002, in the North and South Islands, as part of the New Zealand Ministry for the Environment's Carbon Monitoring Programme which is part of the New Zealand Carbon Accounting System (NZCAS). This was done with Scion (the former Forest Research Institute) and Landcare Research. We have also undertaken other large projects to evaluate the suitability of land and vegetation for carbon storage and accumulation. Our team is therefore well versed in the requirements and guidelines for carbon monitoring and sequestration. We can help you assess the possibilities for carbon sequestration on your land, including:
We undertake a wide range of monitoring and can help you establish the necessary monitoring of carbon sequestration or undertake all the monitoring on your behalf. We also work collaboratively with Scion when more technical data analysis and other input is required. Please contact us if we can help you with carbon sequestration assessments or ongoing monitoring of carbon. Some, but not all, of this inland Wanganui site qualifies for carbon trading. We can help you map and monitor the areas that do qualify.
